Mesmerising Drive Through the Western Ghats

This is a reality that there is nothing more pleasurable than driving in Western ghats during Monsoon. The rains weave a magic in the Western Ghats all around. The hills are green. The cascades could be seen tumbling-down beautifully. Streams whirl around to get back their life. Every thing is green and beautiful. So, let’s discuss a few monsoon road trips which can be experienced during the monsoon in Western ghats.

Monsoon Road Trip 1 – Malnad Magic

There is a nameless waterfall near Balehole. The route extends as follows:

– Hassan – Mudigere – Charmadi – Balehole – Sringeri – Agumbe – Tirthahalli – Chikmagalur – Hassan

Overall distance is 465 km and the road conditions are excellent.  This is a quintessential monsoon drive.

Here, you can savour charms of Charmadi ghat as there are numerous waterfalls. Drive on winding mountain roads with water falls after every few kilometer is a heavenly experience.

You can visit the famous Shankaracharya math and Sharada devi temple here in Sringeri. There is a lovely valley view from sunset point in Agumbe. You can get mesmerised with green landscape in the valley from Kundadri hill. The recommended night halt could be at Tirthahalli

Monsoon Drive 2 – Malnad Heritage trail

Here you get beautiful landscape in Kudremukh National park.

You can visit Jain shrines and 1000 pillared temple in Moodabidri. You drive through pristine forests of Kudremukh. The recommended stay for night could be at Karkala.

Monsoon Road Trip 3 – Malnad Coffee Trail

Here you get the rolling meadows of Sakleshpur. The route is as following:

 Route –  Hassan – Sakleshpur – Madikeri – Sullia – Subramanya – Hassan

The overall distance is 331 KMs. Road conditions are very good but there are a few broken patches.

This could be is an opportunity to drive through the beautiful landscape of meadows and rolling hills…..
